For use in potentially explosive atmospheres, the IC-M87 ATEX version is available with the appropriate accessories in accordance with the ATEX directive. It can be used in the vicinity of flammable gases or liquids, e.g. on oil tankers, bulk carriers and similar. Approved according to test condition II2G Ex ib IIA T3 Gb. Special condition: Must be operated with BP-227AX.

Waterproof construction according to IPX7
The IC-M87ATEX has a waterproof construction for use at sea and on land even in difficult conditions. Even if an IC-M87 ATEX falls into water, its function will not be affected due to IPX7 compliance (30 minutes at a depth of 1 m). the compact and durable housing has also been tested to US military specifications (MIL standard 810).
Li-ion battery for extra-long operating time
The IC-M87 ATEX's standard 1950 mAh* Li-ion battery pack BP-227AX provides up to 19 hours of operation**.

22 programmable channels for PMR
The IC-IC-M87 ATEX has 22 free channels reserved for PMR use (operational radio 146 to 174 MHz). Far/near channel grid is programmable for each channel. CTCSS and DTCS signalling are built in.
